A Charming Ghost Story

Which cover would you choose?

Not only does Liesl & Po, by Lauren Oliver, have two charming cover options, it also is filled with lovely pencil illustrations. The teal cover is a bit misleading because the boy pictured is Will, not Po. The story takes place somewhere around the turn of the century in a place that feels decidedly Dickensian. Will is an alchemist's apprentice who happens to misplace "the most powerful magic in the world" on one of his errands. Po is actually a ghost who, with his cute companion Bundle, has come from the Other Side. Liesl is a girl who has been trapped in an attic for years by an evil stepmother, and would like to return her father's ashes to a peaceful resting place. As they thwart villains and ne'er-do-wells, these three characters come together in a touching story about loss and redemption. Any predispositions you may have about ghosts will change forever after meeting Po. Lauren Oliver's web site is chock full of extras including her book, a book trailer, a Q and A section, and even a Liesl & Po theme song!
