Kid's Versions of Compelling Adult Books

Have you had a chance to read Three Cups of Tea? How about Unbroken? Or Bill O'Reilly's Killing Lincoln? These best-selling non-fiction titles are now all available in adaptations geared for middle grade or YA kids. Books such as the autobiographical I Am Malala give kids a global perspective and deliver a strong message. Last fall, The New York Times published an article about this growing trend in which authors and publishers are learning that simplifying popular non-fiction adult titles for children is a lucrative enterprise. I just finished reading The Boys in the Boat, another title that has recently been adapted for kids. What a great way to start a parent/child book club!
